Late Media Mogul Sumner Redstone’s Mansion Lists for $27.9M

The mansion of the late Sumner Redstone, who died last August 11, 2020, is on the market for $27.9 million.

The lavish Beverly Hills property has five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. It is situated in the ultra exclusive North Beverly Park neighborhood, which is considered a billionaire community.

Redstone, too, was a billionaire having had controlling shares of ViacomCBS, the parent company of CBS. Redstone had been chairman of Viacom and CBS until 2016 when he resigned following an examination from a geriatric psychiatrist. He was then 92.

Sumner was 97 when he died. He was worth $2.6 billion, according to Forbes.

The property

The Los Angeles home has a fantastic view of the California mountains and canyons. These views are even visible from inside the house as it has multiple floor-to-ceiling windows.

Each of the bedrooms also has a terrace where they can appreciate the greeneries down below.

The mansion is 15,355 square feet on a two-acre land.

Officially, the property is owned by the Sumner M. Redstone 2003 Trust, which purchased the mansion for just $14.5 million in 2002.

Of course, so many things have changed in 19 years, particularly the neighborhood. The average homes in North Beverly Park are said to be around 20,000 square feet. The area is also considered paparazzi-proof, which increases the market value of the properties within the village.

The Redstone mansion resembles a modern castle with its featured turrets.

Once you go inside the house, you will immediately feel the enormity of the mansion with its vaulted high ceilings.

Amenities

The property has two pools--an indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor one is an infinity pool that expands the entire length of the lawn at the back of the house.

Inside the mansion, there is also a fitness center, game room, and theater. Wine lovers would definitely enjoy this mansion since it features a wine cellar and a wine tasting room.

The property also has a spa and a sunken tennis court.

There is also a loggia with a fireplace for outdoor dining. Back inside the house, there are two dining areas--a breakfast room and a formal dining room.

Colorful life

The house is in neutral tones save for the blue-hued roof.

It’s safe to say that Redstone’s life is more colorful than the mansion he left behind. He had been married and divorced twice and had two serious relationships after. He had two children, Brent and Shari.

Shari succeeded her father as chair of ViacomCBS. She made it to the list of Time 100 Most Influential People of 2020

There was a time, though, when Shari almost didn’t have her father’s trust.

In 2015, Redstone wrote Shari a letter stating that he didn’t want any litigation over his personal estate, which he then planned to bequeath to his lovers, Sydney Holland and Manuela Herzer.

However, just a year later, Redstone sued both Holland and Herzer for alleged elder abuse. The Redstone family eventually settled with Herzer.

Redstone had named his five grandchildren as his heirs.
